The chairman of the Moscow City Electoral Committee, Olga Kirillova, did not rule out that attempts could be made to discredit the course and results of the Moscow mayoral elections. In her opinion, this could happen against the backdrop of a military operation in Ukraine.

“Of course, attempts will be made to discredit her (the election campaign.— “b”) progress and results,” Ms. Kirillova said in an interview with RIA Novosti in response to a question about whether the military operation would affect the elections.

Elections of the mayor of Moscow will be held on 10 September. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has not yet officially announced his intention to be re-elected. In May, the Moscow branch of United Russia told Kommersant that Mr. Sobyanin would be nominated for the fall elections from the party. In the previous two elections, he ran as a self-nominated candidate.

Details – in the material “Kommersant” “The mayor is being moved along the party line”.
