The Ministry of Digital Development advocates the use of Russian instant messengers for work correspondence in state structures, but does not advocate their ban for other purposes, said Maksut Shadayev, head of the ministry. So he commented on the attempts of schools to transfer the correspondence of teachers with parents from WhatsApp.

“The nature of the ministry is that everything that is not forbidden is allowed. The only thing we are trying to regulate is working communications,” Mr. Shadayev said during the Digital Diamond forum in Yakutia. The Ministry of Digital Development, for example, believes that chats at the level of neighbors in the district can be carried out in any services: “But if we are talking about vertical discussions, then the position of the ministry is unambiguous: use only Russian messengers.”

The minister was answering a question from the audience: the person who asked him announced a “tacit ban” on the use of WhatsApp for parental chats in schools in Yakutia. Instead, according to the words, school representatives offer to communicate in Telegram. In October “b” informed about such attempts to transfer parental chats, the Ministry of Education noted that they do not regulate the scope and channels of communication between parents. At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade in October demanded that industrial enterprises stop using foreign messengers for official purposes.
