The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced that he had arrived in Kyiv to participate in the EU-Ukraine summit. It will also be attended by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell.

Michel wrote on Twitter: “I’m back in Kyiv for the EU-Ukraine summit.”

The day before, as part of preparations for the summit, meetings of representatives of the European Commission and the Cabinet of Ministers of the host country were held in the capital of Ukraine. Following the results of the joint meetings, a new package of financial assistance was announced, as well as the expansion of the training mission to train the Ukrainian military.

During the summit itself, participants are expected to discuss new sanctions against the Russian Federation, the use of frozen Russian assets to restore Ukraine, preparations for the country’s accession to the EU, and other issues.
