The head of the European Commission invited the Europeans to send electricity bills to Russia

The head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, responding to criticism of rising prices for electricity and gas in the EU countries, invited the disgruntled French MP Manon Aubry to send payments for electricity to Moscow.

During the debate in Strasbourg, Aubrey showed von der Leyen the gas and electricity bills sent to her by her constituents. The parliamentarian said that everyone in Europe experiences the energy crisis "in different ways."

Some French people have to choose between paying their utility bills and buying groceries, Aubrey said, while energy companies, she says, are making windfall profits with the EC's connivance.

Von der Leyen, in turn, admitted that these bills can indeed be considered "unbearable."

"It's true, but you know what - send these bills to Moscow!" - said the head of the EC, adding that "the reason for the rise in prices lies" in the Russian capital.
