He will be able to observe the spread of forest fires

It is planned to start creating a Russian-Belarusian satellite with a record resolution and the ability to conduct video surveillance in 2023, said Yury Borisov, Director General of the Roscosmos State Corporation.

The announcement of the unique satellite for remote sensing of the Earth took place at the expert media forum “Industrial and technological cooperation between Russia and Belarus. The science. Space. Education”.

As Roskosmos told MK, the spacecraft will have a spatial resolution (the ability to enlarge the image) of 0.35 meters. (For comparison, currently flying remote sensing devices have a resolution of 2 to 0.5 meters. — Auth.) Moreover, RBKA will be able not only to transmit images of the terrain to Earth, but also to conduct high-resolution video surveillance of the planet’s surface. Video surveillance from space will help, in particular, the operator of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, to understand how the emergency situation develops in dynamics. For example, in which direction the fire is moving.
