In the first half of October, Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with the governors who were elected in September 2022. A source close to the Kremlin administration told Vedomosti about this, without specifying the circle of regional leaders invited to communicate with the head of state. Sources close to the leadership of the two subjects of the Federation, where governors were elected in September, told Vedomosti that the meeting was scheduled for early October. “The exact date has not yet been announced, the meeting is planned via videoconferencing,” says one of them. The preference for this format is also confirmed by a Vedomosti source close to the presidential administration (AP).

Another interlocutor close to the Presidential Administration notes that such meetings are traditionally held every year: “The governors are presidential appointees, and this is such a “throne meeting” that is held after the elections to sum up the results of the campaign.” Socio-economic issues are usually not resolved at such meetings, he adds, such issues are discussed by candidates with the head of state just during the election campaign. Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov immediately after the elections, on September 12, did not rule out that the meeting would take place: “We expect such a meeting to take place now. <...> As regards the evaluation [итогов выборов]then the president will do it in a timely manner.”
