The Finnish state company Gasum has admitted that it has to import liquefied natural gas from Russia. The newspaper reports Helsingin Sanomat with reference to the communications director of the company Olga Vyasyanen.

At the end of May, Gazprom stopped deliveries of Gasum gas because the Finnish company refused to pay for it in rubles.

At the same time, Gasum continues to import LNG from Russia. The publication notes that the company has a long-term contract for the supply of LNG with Gazprom Export, which operates on the principle of “Take or pay.”

“This means that we either receive gas and pay for it, or we do not receive gas and still pay for it,” the company said.

Gasum has been purchasing Russian LNG since 2018. However, the company does not disclose the volume of deliveries.
