The Federal Air Transport Agency recommended canceling some flights due to Iranian attacks on Israel


In connection with Iranian missile attacks on Israeli territories, the Federal Air Transport Agency recommended that Russian air carriers cancel some flights to the Middle East due to the threat to the safety of civil aircraft. We are talking about flights with destination and departure airports in Iran, Iraq and Israel.

At least one Russian plane changed course amid an Iranian missile attack. The Red Wings airliner, en route from Tel Aviv to Sochi, was redirected to Egypt. Initially, the plane circled over the sea, and then changed course and landed at an alternate airfield in Sharm el-Sheikh.

On the evening of October 1, Iran launched about two hundred ballistic missiles towards Israel. Air defense systems operated over almost the entire territory of the country, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps called the attack retaliation for the killing of Lebanese Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Ben Gurion Airport was closed amid the attack. Jordan and Iraq also announced airspace closures.
