The Federal Air Transport Agency announced the possibility of flying on Western aircraft until 2030

Russian airlines will be able to use Western aircraft, provided that work is carried out to maintain their airworthiness until 2030. About this declared in an interview RBC head of the Federal Air Transport Agency Alexander Neradko.

“Given the reserve of their resource and technical work to maintain airworthiness until 2030, you can safely fly,” he answered the corresponding question.

Neradko stressed that the ban on the supply of spare parts and maintenance of aircraft equipment of companies from countries that have imposed sanctions against Russian aviation did not affect flight safety in the Russian Federation. The head of the Federal Air Transport Agency emphasized that an aircraft is considered serviceable, “which has a reserve of resource, all the comments have been eliminated on board and for which the relevant documentation has been drawn up.”

Neradko also suggested abandoning the term “cannibalism” in relation to Russian aviation. According to him, the rearrangement of serviceable spare parts from aircraft to aircraft is “a global practice, and not an innovation in Russian airlines.”

At the same time, the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency believes that Western aircraft will gradually replace the domestic Superjet New, MS-21, etc. He added that Russia will have to “re-create its own air fleet.”

Against the backdrop of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, the European Union imposed sanctions against Russia. In addition to the termination and the impossibility of concluding aircraft leasing agreements, it was also forbidden to sell spare parts to Russian air carriers, carry out repairs and provide insurance services.
