The European Parliament supported the allocation of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 5 billion euros. The decision was made on September 15 at a meeting in Strasbourg, which broadcast on YouTube.

“The European Union is providing Ukraine with assistance in the amount of 5 billion euros, which is aimed at maintaining the macro-financial stability of the country,” the meeting announced. As indicated in the EP, assistance is provided in the form of loans. This decision It was agreed by the EU countries on 9 September.

Reuters, citing the Czech Ministry of Finance clarified5 billion euros is part of a total package of 9 billion euros that the EU countries agreed to provide to Ukraine at the end of June. Czech Finance Minister Zbynek Stanyura noted that the decision to transfer the remaining 3 billion will be made at the next meetings.

In early August, the EU has already transferred 1 billion euros from the financial assistance package. After that, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that some EU countries were “artificially delaying” the transfer of financial assistance to Ukraine for 8 billion euros. Prior to this, the deputy head of the office of the Ukrainian president, Igor Zhovkva, accused the FRG of delaying assistance to Kyiv. However, in Germany, the words of the Ukrainian politician were denied.
