The authorities of Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, following Estonia, announced a ban on entry for Russian citizens with Schengen visas, including those issued in other countries.

“From the night of September 19, the ban will come into force,” said Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu.

On the imminent introduction of a ban on the entry of Russians into Europe through the Baltic countries declared on the eve of Latvian Foreign Minister Edgar Rinkevich. He announced the introduction of restrictions within 10 days, while indicating that the decision is being agreed at the level of the Baltic countries, and the authorities of each will make it separately.

Rinkevich noted that the ban will apply to the Baltic borders not only with the Russian Federation, but also with Belarus, and Russians with short-term Schengen visas will not be able to cross here either the land or sea external border of the EU, or the border at airports. At the same time, Rinkevich added that exceptions could be made for a number of categories of Russians, “on which we have agreed.”
