The Eiffel Tower's illumination time will be shortened to save electricity

French media report on the decision of the Paris authorities to reduce the daily duration of the illumination of the Eiffel Tower to save electricity.

How writes Le Journal du Dimanche, Mayor Anne Hidalgo is implementing an "energy sobriety" plan for the city, and cutting back on the highlights of Paris' main landmark is part of it.

According to plans, the 336 floodlights illuminating the tower will be turned off at 23:45, when the last visitor leaves the facility. Until now, the backlight turned off at one in the morning.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that due to the reduction in Russian gas supplies, it is necessary to adjust plans for electricity consumption. He called first of all to reduce the "useless lighting" of objects in cities.
