The number of victims of rocket attack on the administration of the Kherson region has increased to three. About it informs agency “RIA Novosti” with reference to the representative of the emergency services of Kherson.
“Three dead, including two bystanders,” the source said.
Earlier today, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) inflicted rocket attacks on the center of Kherson. According to RIA Novosti, five rockets fell near the building of the regional administration.
Ekaterina Gubareva, deputy head of the military-civilian administration (CAA) of the Kherson region, specified that at least one rocket hit the CAA building. According to her, Alla Barkhatnova, the head of the department of labor and social policy, suffered as a result of the shelling. It was reported about one dead – the driver Barkhatnova.
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals.
During a special operation in May, the Russian military completely took control of the Kherson region. According to the head of the Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, there are no authorities in the region controlled by Kyiv. New pro-Russian administrations were formed in the region.
The counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been going on since the end of August. Ukrainian troops made attempts to advance in the Nikolaev and Kherson regions in three directions. Then the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian troops repelled the attack. The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kherson direction exceeded 3,500 people.
At the beginning of September, offensive attempts continued. However, the Russian military said that Ukraine’s actions were unsuccessful, the enemy suffered heavy losses. After that, according to the Ministry of Defense, Kyiv stopped the offensive in the Nikolaev-Krivoy Rog direction. At the same time, on September 10, the Russian military department reported on the withdrawal of troops from Izyum and Balakleya in the Kharkiv region to the territory of the DPR.
