The Cup named after L.N. Tolstoy in sledge hockey

On October 1, the Leo Tolstoy Sledge Hockey Cup among children’s teams started at the Tropic Ice Arena. The final game will take place on October 2.
Four teams will compete for the main trophy:
• Tula Tropic,
• national team of the Tula region “AKM – Sledzh”,
• St. Petersburg SKA-Strela,
• Team of the Moscow region.
The guests and participants of the competition were welcomed by the Minister of Sports of the Tula Region Dmitry Yakovlev.
“In the Tula region, sledge hockey received an impetus to development in 2016, when, on the initiative of the Governor Alexei Dyumin and with the support of the Tula Region Development Fund “Perspektiva”, the children’s sledge hockey team “Tropic” was created. Today we have a children’s and an adult team. These competitions are a great opportunity to prove yourself. Every day you go out on the ice and dedicate your life and strength to sports. Let the strongest win in this traditional tournament, I wish each of you to enjoy the game,” said Dmitry Yakovlev.

Sledge hockey, an analogue of ice hockey for people with disabilities, came to Russia only in 2009. Tropic and AKM Sledge teams represent the region at all-Russian and international competitions.
