The Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg satisfied the claim of Baltiysky Zavod JSC against the Finnish supplier of equipment and technologies for the energy and shipbuilding market Wartsila for the recovery of 5 million euros in damages. This follows from the file of the court.

The plant filed a lawsuit against the structure of the Finnish company Wartsila Solutions Oy on June 7, 2022. The reasoning decision of the court following the consideration of the application has not yet been published.

Interfax clarifiesthat the claim is related to the supply of equipment for the Yakutia and Chukotka nuclear icebreakers under construction, intended to service the Northern Sea Route. The Finnish company did not supply equipment due to sanctions.

In addition, in August 2022, Baltiysky Zavod filed a lawsuit against the parent company Wartsila Oyj Abp for the recovery of 469 million rubles. In May, the court terminated the proceedings on him.

Baltiysky Zavod is part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation. At the moment, the company is building four nuclear-powered icebreakers of project 22220 (Yakutia, Chukotka, Kamchatka and Sakhalin). Wartsila has suspended all deliveries and sales in Russia since the end of February 2022 due to the start of a special operation in Ukraine. The company later announced that write off EUR 200 million related to assets and business processes in Russia. The company began operating in Russia in 1981. According to the latest data, it had three offices, employing more than 750 people.
