The court confirmed life sentences for pedophiles-murderers of a girl from Kostroma

The verdict handed down in the case of the murder and rape of a five-year-old girl in Kostroma, which sentenced Vadim Belyakov and Denis Gerasimov to life, was recognized as lawful by the first court of appeal of general jurisdiction.
“The verdict was upheld, the appeals were not satisfied,” a TASS interlocutor said in the press service of the court on Tuesday.
Gerasimov and Belyakov were sentenced to life imprisonment by the Kostroma Regional Court on July 1. Previously convicted 45-year-old and 24-year-old defendants were found guilty of rape, sexual assault, grievous bodily harm and murder of a child. Experts recognized the killers as sane. The court exacted 2 million rubles from them at the suit of the mother of the murdered woman.
On January 4, Gerasimrov and Belyakov, while intoxicated, kidnapped a girl who was near the cultural center on Severnaya Pravda Street in Kostroma without adults. They raped the child and killed him. They were detained on the same day, the girl’s body was found in a room in one of the city hostels.
Both offenders have already been convicted: one – for a crime against sexual integrity and illegal trafficking in pornographic materials, the second – for theft.
It is reported that the investigating authorities continue to investigate the criminal case against an official of the internal affairs bodies on the fact of improper administrative supervision of one of the convicts, who was assigned a probationary period by the court that had not expired at the time of the murder of the child.
