The Constitutional Court (CC) has begun checking the constitutionality of the treaties on the admission of four new subjects to Russia. We are talking about agreements on the accession of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, RIA Novosti reports. The website of the Constitutional Court says that the appeal was received yesterday, September 30.

Yesterday President Vladimir Putin signed agreements on the entry of the DPR and LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into Russia. This decision was taken following the results of the last four regions referenda. The European Union and the United States, as well as Georgia, Kazakhstan, Serbia and Turkey, refused to recognize the legitimacy of the plebiscites. Washington and London have expanded anti-Russian sanctions.
