The Russian Ground Forces received a new reconnaissance and strike complex with an extended-range unmanned aerial vehicle “Udarnik” for counter-battery warfare. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense on the occasion of the canceled Ground Forces Day on October 1.
According to the military department, in order to increase the effectiveness of counter-battery warfare at maximum ranges and taking into account the experience of using Lancet drones, reconnaissance and strike divisions with more advanced Udarnik unmanned systems have been formed in the Ground Forces.
As the military department reported, the new complexes make it possible to hit the artillery of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to a depth of 30-35 kilometers from the line of combat contact.
An expert in the field of unmanned systems Denis Fedutinov told MK that the Udarnik complex was mentioned for the first time in materials of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
- Now there is a boom in the creation of unmanned systems of various kinds. Don’t be surprised at the appearance of new names, says Fedutinov. - The indicated range of 30-35 kilometers represents the upper limit for the range of the artillery systems most widely used by the enemy,
In this regard, firstly, reconnaissance means, primarily unmanned, are of high importance, capable of providing detection of the enemy’s corresponding strike weapons, as well as target designation for weapons and fire adjustment.
Secondly, in this context, unmanned strike weapons operating at the same ranges can also be used, including the so-called “kamikaze drones”, which can be used to disable enemy artillery.
