The border service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan announced the shelling from Tajikistan. According to the agency, the village of Pasky-Aryk in the Batken region of the republic came under attack.

According to the border service of Kyrgyzstan, mortar fire from the Tajik side was opened at 8.50 local time and lasted for five minutes. The State Committee for National Security noted that this happened in violation of previously reached agreements.

The night from 16 to 17 September passed without firing. On the eve of the Presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon agreed on a ceasefire during negotiations on the sidelines of the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Samarkand.
