The author of the imperishable hit “New Year’s Toys, Candles and Firecrackers”, Honored Artist of Russia Arkady Khoralov, found himself in a difficult situation. The famous composer, whose songs are in the repertoire of Iosif Kobzon, Lyubov Uspenskaya, Alsu, Taisiya Povaliy and other stars, may end up on the street. Khoralov is evicted from the apartment, the money for which, according to him, he paid ten years ago. The composer frankly told MK correspondents about the strange scheme.

– As a popular and authoritative person in the world of show business, one person approached me in the late 90s – a young banker Vladimir Romanov, – says Arkady. – At that moment I left the “Gems”, moved to work in Tula, and then decided to return to Moscow. I rented an apartment: it was very frail, but inexpensive. This person started coming to visit me. I saw Lesha Glyzin, and Renat Ibragimov, and other artists with whom I was friends and friends. At some point, Romanov says: “I have the opportunity to find an apartment in a house under construction. I will buy it for myself, and then, when you gradually give me money for it, I will copy it for you. I agreed to these terms. At first, he didn’t know what he was. A young guy – he was then 30 years old. His wife came to me, he invited me to the anniversary. He had a big country house. I am a trusting person – I did not feel a dirty trick.

Khoralov says that he regularly paid money for the apartment. In order to quickly pay off the banker, he sold the land in Tula, which the governor once presented to him.

– In 2008, Romanov comes and says: “You know, I have a difficult situation now – they take away the license from my bank,” Arkady shares. – In 2008, the country defaulted, and Vladimir demanded to double the amount of payments. I am a musician, composer, I have a studio, music, concerts. I did not immediately realize that I was paying him in dollars – the default did not affect our calculations in any way. He began to pay, as he said, more.

“At some point, he brought me a new contract: only not for himself, but for his wife Elizabeth,” says the composer. – He argued this by the fact that when his bank’s license was taken away, he, in order not to lose his property, got divorced and transferred everything to his wife.

In 2013, Khoralov considered that he had completely paid off with the banker. But it didn’t work out to get the apartment. Then the composer sounded the alarm.

– It turned out that Romanov’s wife twice took out a loan secured by an apartment in his troubled bank: first, 700 thousand dollars, then – 35 million. I didn’t know anything about it.

Rumors quickly spread in the party about Khoralov’s housing problem. Iosif Kobzon also learned about the difficult situation, who at one time performed eight works by the composer.

– Once upon a meeting, Joseph Davydovich said to me: “Arkady, there are news in show business about your misfortunes with an apartment. Why don’t you tell me anything?” – recalls Khoralov. – I had to tell: I gave the money, I have all the receipts, but they don’t return the apartment to me, they don’t even register it temporarily. Kobzon sent me to the big boss in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. She gathered a council, I was connected with the person who was supposed to oversee my case. Nice guy, decent guy. “I am a hereditary policeman, I will decide everything!” he promised me. A year later, he calls: “I will quit.” It turned out that they were bombarded with other cases 5 years ago. By that time, Kobzon was already very ill – I could no longer ask him for anything.

Khoralov went to court – during this time he changed several lawyers.

– My lawyers are trying to get a criminal case initiated. Romanov has been in prison for two years. During interrogations, by the way, he admitted that I paid him all the money. There was nowhere to go – I have all the receipts on hand. His wife was also called in for questioning. She replied: “Yes, Khoralov paid the money. But he paid his husband. He took money from him, but did not give it back to me. They earned three times in the apartment: the amount that I paid them, 700 thousand dollars on the first bail and 35 million rubles on the second. All people, even those with big stars in big structures, are shocked, but no one can help me. My apartment is now pledged to the bank. I can live in it for a few more months, then the term ends, the bank demands to vacate the housing. I don’t know where to move: I have no other housing. I have lived in this apartment for twenty years: here is a studio, and two pianos, and icons … One hope for justice.

Correspondents of “MK” turned to a lawyer to clarify the situation. Many of them believe that Khoralov’s chances of staying in the apartment are minimal.

Anna Butyrina, lawyer:

– Unfortunately, Arkady will have to move out, since the apartment is pledged to the bank, and he is not the owner. The only thing he can do is to go to court with a claim for the recovery of the transferred funds to Romanov on receipts. But given that Romanov is in prison, most likely, Arkady will never see the money that he transferred to him. Yes, and the time limit for filing a lawsuit is three years. Hence the conclusion: Lord, always be vigilant.
