Pavel Yuzhanov, artistic director of the First Theater youth theater, where there was a scandal in November in connection with a complaint about LGBT propaganda in the play, left the post of his own free will. The representative of the theater informs about this.
The scandal occurred in November 2022, when a local resident addressed the Ministry of Culture of the Novosibirsk Region, asking him to check for possible LGBT propaganda the image of the Princess, who in the play “The Princess and the Ogre” is played by a male actor with a mustache. A public screening of the performance by experts was scheduled, but it did not take place due to technical reasons, as a result, the theater management decided to suspend the screening under the circumstances.
It is noted that Yuzhakov wrote a statement of his own free will. He is going to focus on his teaching activities. Pavel Yuzhakov is the creator and permanent director of the First Theatre, which turns 15 this year.
