Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov commented on the decision of the US administration to allocate a new package of military assistance to Ukraine. Statement published in the Telegram channel of the diplomatic mission.

Antonov noted that Washington “continues to add fuel to the fire” by providing additional assistance to Kyiv. “The United States does not intend to listen to the voice of reason and is not going to contribute to the peaceful settlement of the crisis,” the ambassador said.

In his opinion, the goal of the United States is “to prolong the conflict as much as possible.” Antonov believes that Washington “creates an illusion” for the Ukrainian authorities about the possibility of defeating Russia, which only leads to an increase in the number of victims.

On the eve of the Pentagon announced the allocation of a new package of military assistance to Ukraine for $ 1 billion. The new package will include ammunition for MLRS HIMARS and air defense NASAMS. In addition, Ukraine will receive artillery ammunition, 1,000 anti-tank Javelins, explosives, medical supplies and 50 armored medical vehicles.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized military assistance to Ukraine from Western countries. Earlier, Russia sent a note of protest to all countries, including the United States, over the supply of weapons to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, on the other hand, said that by pumping weapons to Ukraine, Western countries do not allow it to take constructive steps and do not allow it to negotiate with Russia.

Nevertheless, new equipment and ammunition continue to be supplied to Ukraine. So, last week the German MLRS Mars II arrived in the country.
