Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan agree on a ceasefire

Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan agreed on a ceasefire, informed TASS with reference to the statement of the border service of the Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security (GKNB).

The negotiations were attended by the heads of the State Committee for National Security – Saimumin Yatimov from the Tajik side and Saimumin Yatimov from the Kyrgyz side. They agreed on a ceasefire from 16:00 (13:00 Moscow time).

Earlier TASS with reference to the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan informedthat the military personnel of the country, due to the aggravation of the situation on the border, were transferred to the barracks.

The situation on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan again escalated on the morning of September 16, armed clashes are taking place along the entire perimeter. The parties accuse each other of violating the ceasefire agreements.

According to Kyrgyzstan, the Tajik side began shelling the border guards and positions of the Kyrgyz side in the areas of Eki-Tash, Chir-Dobo and Kum-Mazar and Orto-Boz, using mortars, tanks and other armored vehicles. Bishkek later said that Tajikistan was trying to seize the territory of the republic, Sputnik Kyrgyzstan reports. Tajikistan, in turn, accuses Bishkek of attacking the Dushanbe border outpost with heavy weapons.

Previously in Dushanbe declaredthat have already twice proposed a unilateral ceasefire unilaterally, but the military personnel of Kyrgyzstan ignored this. At the same time, Bishkek, as report RIA Novosti itself calls on Tajikistan for a ceasefire.
