The leaders of 23 municipalities asked for financial assistance to provide for Ukrainian refugees.
The newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung, citing a collective letter from the mayors, reported that the heads of 23 municipalities in Baden-Württemberg turned to German Interior Minister Nancy Fraser and asked for financial assistance to provide for Ukrainian refugees.
According to the publication, at the moment, local administrations have exhausted all possibilities to help refugees. In particular, there is a shortage of housing and other resources.
“At the same time, the number of refugees is constantly increasing. The municipalities are cornered and have reached a dangerous point. Everyone who is fleeing the conflict in Ukraine needs our help. We need closer coordination between the governments of the federal states and the federal government,” the publication noted.
