Summer Paralympic Games to be held in Sochi

The meeting of the Organizing Committee of the Summer Paralympic Games was held in Sochi on September 23rd. The city is preparing to meet athletes from the Republic of Belarus, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Germany. Russia will be represented by teams from 78 regions of the country.
The Games will feature 9 sports. Competitions of track and field athletes, fencers in wheelchairs, POD football players and para-taekwondo players and table tennis players can be seen at the facilities of Yug-Sport. The sports complex “Yunost” will become a meeting place for chess players, drafts players and archers. Swimming competitions will be held on the basis of the hotel complex “Grand Hotel Polyana”.
The readiness of Sochi’s infrastructure to receive Paralympic athletes has already been confirmed by the interdepartmental commission. The safety of the participants of the Summer Games every day will be provided by more than a hundred law enforcement officers. Competitions will be held from 2 to 9 October.
Recall that recently the essay received the Governor’s Personal Award for Distinguished People with Disabilities. The chairman of the Sochi branch of the All-Russian Society of the Blind was presented with an award “For achievements in public, volunteer activities.”
