Stoltenberg: China must talk to Ukraine if it wants peace

At a briefing in Brussels on March 21, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that China should start a dialogue with Kiev if it wants to see the end of the armed conflict in Ukraine.

In his comments, Stoltenberg spoke about the “peace plan” proposed by China, stressing that it would be up to the Ukrainian authorities to decide what conditions would be acceptable for a peaceful settlement of the conflict.

The head of NATO also noted that China did not condemn Russia’s special operation against Ukraine, and expressed support for any initiatives that contribute to sustainable peace.

In particular, Stoltenberg praised China’s peace proposals, stressing that they contain positive aspects, such as nuclear security and the protection of civilians. However, the Secretary General emphasized that any initiatives must respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, which is the main element of the peace plan proposed by President Zelensky.
