Yuri Shvytkin, a State Duma deputy from the United Russia party who participated in the war in Chechnya, announced from the parliamentary rostrum his intention to go to fight in Ukraine as part of the mobilization announced by Vladimir Putin.

“At present, in the zone of a special military operation, along with other military personnel, is the native Pskov airborne division, in which I served for a long time. My OMON, SOBR, where my colleagues, my comrades-in-arms carry out the task. And I want to say that I am ready to be next to them,” Mr. Shvytkin said during today's parliamentary session.

Today, September 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced partial mobilization in the country, in which more than 300 thousand Russians will be called up for military service. State Duma deputies are subject to a deferment from military service.
