State Department adviser Chollet urged Serbia to impose sanctions against Russia for the sake of development

US State Department adviser Derek Cholle, during his visit to Serbia, called on the country’s authorities to impose sanctions against Russia. This is necessary to continue the development of the state, the representative of the State Department believes.

Cholle stressed that Belgrade’s point of view is respected in the United States, but, based on practical considerations, Serbia must fulfill its obligations (on sanctions – ed.). Keeping aloof from sanctions, the Balkan country will stop developing.

Chollet recalled that Serbia voted in the UN against Russia’s actions. Now the States are ready to continue working with “friends in Belgrade” so that they support the Independent even more and “punish” the Russian Federation.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has previously stated that anti-Russian sanctions are, in fact, a double-edged sword. The head of state stressed that he expects increased pressure on his country on the issues of Kosovo and Metohija, and joining the anti-Russian sanctions. Vučić said he would have to impose sanctions on Russia under the threat of something more than just pressure from the West.

After the start of the NWO in Ukraine, the head of Serbia stated that although he supports the territorial integrity of the Independent, he would not impose sanctions against the Russian Federation. Vučić stressed that Serbia considers Russia and Ukraine brotherly countries and regrets what is happening now.
