State debt of Ukraine in August amounted to $98 billion

The state debt of Ukraine in August increased by $1.24 billion (by 1.28%) and reached $98.03 billion, according to the Ukrainian edition of Korrespondent, citing data from the country’s Ministry of Finance. According to the agency, direct external debt increased from $52.21 billion to $53.44 billion. Direct domestic debt amounted to $34.49 billion compared to the previous figure of $34.34 billion. The amount of guaranteed public debt amounted to $10.10 billion.

In August reportedthat the direct and guaranteed public debt of Ukraine for the first half of the year increased to 68% of GDP, amounting to $105.39 billion. According to the International Monetary Fund, by the end of the year, the country’s public debt will amount to 86% of GDP.

On October 4, Ukraine demanded more stable financial support from the European Union. Kyiv expects to receive $38 billion in budget assistance in 2023.
