The reusable cargo spacecraft Cargo Dragon successfully launched to the International Space Station (ISS). This was announced by the developer company SpaceX.

The launch of the American spacecraft using a heavy SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle was carried out at 14:20 local time (at 22:20 Moscow time) at the Cape Canaveral launch site (Florida).

On Sunday at 07:30 US East Coast time (15:30 Moscow time), the spacecraft should dock in auto mode to the Harmony module on the American segment of the ISS.

The cargo ship will deliver over three tons of food to the station. Cargo Dragon also took on board equipment and materials for dozens of scientific experiments.

Cargo Dragon is the only ISS resupply spacecraft capable of returning cargo to Earth by splashing down in the Atlantic. So, as part of this mission, the ship-truck will be part of the station until January 2023. The ship will bring back to Earth the results of experiments carried out by the crew in orbit. Their total weight is expected to be 2.3 tons.
