On the occasion of the professional holiday – the Day of the Formation of the Special Forces – the National Guard reported on the number of servicemen who received state awards during a special military operation in Ukraine. According to the agency, more than 3,000 servicemen and employees of the special forces of the Russian Guard have been awarded state awards, and six have been awarded the highest title of Hero of Russia. The history of the special forces of the Russian Guard dates back to 1941, when the first formation was formed by order of the NKVD of the USSR to carry out special tasks. Special forces are involved in the fight against terrorism, protecting public order and ensuring public safety, detaining dangerous criminals, and performing other tasks.
