Sinisa Mihajlovic and Bologna will go their separate ways after a complicated start to the season for the team, ranked 16th with only 3 points and still without a win.

After a meeting with Bologna leaders at his home in Rome, Sinisa Mihajlovic was sacked: president Claudio Fenucci, manager Giovanni Sartori and DS Marco Di Vaio were present at this meeting. The Bologna summit aimed to get the Serbian coach to step down but, as expected, he didn’t give an inch.

“Unfortunately, even cycles that have brought sporting satisfactions like this can dull and lose the initial flame”underlined the club, thanking Mihajlovic and his deputies for coping with their work “in extraordinary and very delicate conditions from a human point of view”.

Bologna then decided for an immediate dismissal while Mihajlovic’s contract ran out until next June. He will pack up after an adventure started on January 28, 2019 and marked by his illness and remission.

To replace him, the Bolognese management places the former Parisian Thiago Motta at the top of the list. After a successful stint at La Spezia, the former international midfielder is still without a bench.

The Italian Claudio Ranieri and the Portuguese Paulo Sousa, passed by the Girondins de Bordeaux, are also asked for the succession of the Serb.
