The modernization of the Moscow missile defense system is planned to be completed this year, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting of the board of the department. According to him, it is planned to hold 33 main organizational events.

In particular, as the minister said, they should form an air defense division and brigade, a special-purpose air defense missile brigade, an anti-aircraft missile regiment with the S-350 complex and a military transport aviation regiment. “Along with this, we will complete the construction of 621 military infrastructure facilities for the needs of the Aerospace Forces,” he added (quoted by TASS).

In July 2020, the Ministry of Defense said that it was planned to strengthen the Moscow missile defense system with new missiles. In January 2021, Major General Sergei Grabchuk, commander of the anti-missile defense formation toldthat a number of elements of the missile defense system in the city are undergoing “deep modernization”.
