Shoigu: demobilized conscripts will go home, not on a military operation

Military personnel completing their service on conscription will return home, said Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. He promised that the newly drafted would be sent to units not involved in the military operation in Ukraine.

Mr. Shoigu at a conference call recalled that conscription for military service will begin in November, and transfer to the reserve – from October to December. “All conscripts who have completed and are completing their service are returning home, and the newly drafted will be sent to units that are not involved in the special military operation,” the minister specified.

As part of the autumn draft campaign, more than 2.7 thousand draft boards will be opened in all regions of Russia. It is planned to call up 120 thousand people, which is 7.5 thousand less than in the fall of 2021, Sergei Shoigu said.

From September 21 in Russia held partial mobilization by decree of Vladimir Putin. Mr. Shoigu promised not to send to Ukraine conscripts and studentsas well as women. Kremlin called false information about plans to mobilize 1.2 million Russians instead of 300 thousand declared by the Ministry of Defense. As part of the mobilization urged already over 200 thousand people.

September 30 President signed Decree on the autumn call. This year it was postponed for a month – from October to November. In the Kremlin explained this is the congestion of the military registration and enlistment offices.
