Sergey Zhukov about his son’s career: “I have no goal to grow a star”

The song “We are 17” and the video of the same name became a real family performance for Sergey Zhukov. The track leader “Hands Up!” recorded together with his eldest son Angel, and the musician’s wife Regina and daughter Nika starred in the video. “ZD” evaluates the family exit and tries to find out from Sergei himself what will happen next.

Sergei Zhukov is clearly sympathetic to the idea of ​​building his own musical empire. He repeatedly produced other artists, and with his former ward Ilya Podstrelov from the Factor-2 group, he even sued for copyright on old hits and recently won the process. Recently, Sergei clearly does not rely on strangers and is looking for talents in his family, since it is quite large. The musician has two sons (twelve-year-old Angel and seven-year-old Miron), as well as a daughter, Nika, who is already thirteen.

Miron is still enjoying a serene childhood, but Angel and Nika already know what it’s like to work in the music industry. Together with the famous father, they went on stage in front of a crowd of seventy thousand people at Luzhniki, and Angel is confidently moving towards his debut album. Now it is difficult to say whether a pop star will turn out from Zhukov Jr. But it is quite clear that Angel is just a copy of his famous dad, and by trying on a very tenacious style that critics have dubbed “Pop Beetles”, he is making a very far-sighted investment.

Zhukov Sr. is not yet in a hurry with the intention of raising a new star, but he clearly enjoys such a family musical movement, as he himself told ZD.

– The track “We are 17” turned out to be quite in the spirit of “Hands Up!”, And despite the fact that you and your son, most likely, have different musical tastes …

– I’m glad that Angel is all right with musical taste. He, like me, listens to a lot of different music, loves both Beatles songs and contemporary artists. Among his idols are JONY and Slava Marlow, but still not an Instasamka.

– Angel is now twelve years old, and judging by the fact that “We are 17” is far from the first musical venture in which he is involved, there is probably a chance that the young man wants to become an artist. You certainly have the opportunity to help him with this. Are you serious about making him a popular artist?

– I have no goal to raise a star musician from my son and then monetize success. I am not Father Spears or Father Knowles (Britney Spears and Beyonce Knowles began their careers under the supervision and active participation of their parents. – ZD), who invented and controlled every step for their children. I am a father first, not a producer. I know that I have a rather talented guy growing up, and I will try to help him realize his potential. I like that Angel is seriously interested in music, he works diligently and this year he has already released one more song than his dad. But if in a year he tells Regina and me that he is much more interested in economics or IT, we will only rejoice.

I’m definitely not going to engage in his concert activities, go on tour with him and play such an ubiquitous daddy. First of all, daddy has enough of his own trips right now. And secondly, I want him to learn independence from early childhood.

– Nevertheless, he already went on stage, and tens of thousands of people were witnesses to this. Both Angel and daughter Nika performed with you at the show in Moscow. And in St. Petersburg, you entrusted Angel with a solo number. Don’t you think that, in fact, bringing a child to such a large audience is rather risky, first of all for him/herself? What are your impressions of his performance?

– If you worry and worry a lot, then you can never achieve anything. It’s great that I have the opportunity to show my children what it’s like to be on stage in front of such a huge audience. What other parent can give children such an experience. Of course, I was worried, perhaps even more than the children. But they are both great. Both Angel and Nick. It seems to me that Angel is comfortable even on the Moon – he is very light and sociable.
