Five-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming, 39-year-old Anastasia Davydova, who holds the post of General Secretary of the Russian Olympic Committee, has decided to leave Russia.

The athlete made her decision after the announcement by Russian President Vladimir Putin of partial mobilization and the order of the Ministry of Sports to suspend training camps abroad.

Commenting on Davydova’s decision, Olga Brusnikina, Vice-President of the Synchronized Swimming Federation, admitted that the athletes “were shocked by this news.” However, she added that so far, the Secretary General of the ROC has not announced her resignation.

“There were no statements about the formal resignation from the Secretary General to the Olympic Committee of the Russian Federation,” she said.
