Geneticists from the University of Missouri (USA) came to the conclusion that cats were first domesticated about 10 thousand years ago and not in Egypt, as previously thought, but in Mesopotamia. It was in this ancient country that the first settlements of farmers appeared.

Geneticists Leslie A. Lyons and Thomas Juba studied about 200 genetic markers of feline DNA and concluded that cats later migrated to Africa, Europe and Asia along with humans.
Some other animals, such as horses and cattle, have been domesticated several times at different times and in different places around the world. With cats it was different. Genetic analyzes prove that they have only been domesticated once.
Scientists have called cats semi-domesticated animals. If they get into the wild, they will hunt, breed and survive without people. Unlike other domesticated species, hosts have not been able to radically change their inherent behavior.
