Waves generated by a powerful earthquake in Turkey were recorded by scientists from the Institute of Geophysics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the territory of the Sverdlovsk Region, said Oleg Kusonsky, head of the Arti observatory. URA.RU.
Kusonsky said that the waves appeared at the moment of rupture of the earth’s crust and are events that can go around the globe several times or pass it through the core of the Earth.
By themselves, the waves that reached the Urals were so imperceptible that only equipment could fix them. However, they can affect the seismically dangerous regions of the Urals, Severoural and Nizhny Tagil.
