Scholz explained the refusal to supply tanks to Ukraine

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz responded in interview The New York Times about the reasons why Berlin refuses to send tanks to Kyiv.

"This is a very dangerous war," Scholz told American journalists.

He explained that Germany supports Ukraine, but tries to do it in such a way as not to bring the situation "to a state of war between Russia and NATO."

According to Scholz, in this case, the world may face a catastrophe.

The publication notes that after the partial mobilization announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin, fears of a direct clash between Russia and NATO began to grow among other Western supporters of Kyiv, which makes it difficult to agree on goals to avoid such a confrontation and continue to strengthen Ukraine's military power.

Scholz reiterated that Germany had supplied the Ukrainians with "an enormous mass of effective weapons."
