Sands: the standard of living in Europe is falling

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov commented on the rallies demanding the lifting of sanctions against Russia, which took place in Europe the day before. He said that the standard of living in Europe is falling, and the Europeans have more and more questions to the authorities.

“It is obvious that life is getting worse for people, entrepreneurs, companies in Europe, work is getting worse, money is earned less, living standards are falling. This is an obvious reality and, of course, questions from ordinary citizens to the leadership of their countries will appear more and more, ”Peskov said.

The Kremlin spokesman stressed that the Russian side could not comment on what was happening, since the leaders of Western countries should deal with the problems that had arisen. Peskov once again noted the absurdity and harmfulness of the decisions taken by the European authorities.

Earlier today EU diplomat Josep Borrell acknowledged fatigue of EU citizens from sanctions against Russia. He also noted that European citizens are “very concerned about the upcoming winter and the consequences of the energy crisis.” However, according to Borrell, it is not the EU sanctions that are to blame for the crisis threatening Europe, but the actions of Russia, which “turns energy into a weapon.”

After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, Western states imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia. Many sectors of the economy fell under the restrictions, including energy, the high-tech sector, aviation, the banking industry, the mining industry, the automotive industry, etc.

However, the sanctions against Russia had a negative impact on the economies of foreign countries as well. Thus, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz admitted that many Germans were faced with rising prices for gasoline and food. Nevertheless, he declared the effectiveness of sanctions against Russia. Scholz also emphasized more than once that the restrictions would last as long as necessary to support Ukraine.
