Five buildings of Sakhalin State University on Wednesday, December 7, were sealed by decision of the city court of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. As university employees told Kommersant, only one academic building is operating in full-fledged mode. The reason is non-compliance with fire safety rules.

The buildings of the Polytechnic College, the Institute of Law, Economics and Management, the South Sakhalin Pedagogical College and others were sealed. Students and teachers report that the news was unexpected – the transfer to the “remote” and the removal of the necessary documents became known “to the day”. According to press office University, on Wednesday and Thursday, students will study at home, and on Friday, training will be resumed in full-time format. It will be organized in the classrooms of the remaining buildings.

It should be reminded that earlier the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation conducted an audit of the flagship university of the region. As a result, 185 violations worth 270 million rubles were revealed in SakhGU. Currently, the university conducts about 50 parallel checks. The unjustified waste of budgetary funds, non-use of equipment that was declared necessary, as well as a lack of funds allocated for fire safety were revealed at the university.

The decision made by the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk City Court will be appealed to a higher court.
