Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that a dozen and a half states are interested in joining the BRICS. He said this on the air of Channel One.

According to him, in recent months, interest in this association has grown “on the part of many influential, authoritative states.”

“And what to hide – a dozen and a half countries in one form or another have already expressed interest in joining this group,” he said.

According to him, this is “a reflection of the authority of BRICS as an international platform” and “a reflection of the understanding that BRICS offers a real alternative to a unipolar world” without “leaders and led” and attempts to impose solutions.

Ryabkov also said that he does not call BRICS an organization, it is an association devoid of supranational bureaucracy, and this is a strong point. At the same time, BRICS is young and does not yet have an agreed and approved procedure for accepting new members. An order has already been given to deal with this issue.

Recall that now the BRICS includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
