Russian swimmer updated the world record

At the Russian short course swimming championship in Kazan, a result was recorded that exceeded the world achievement. Kliment Kolesnikov set overcame a distance of 50 meters on his back in 22.11 seconds. The previous world record was set in 2014 by the Frenchman Florent Manadou.

22-year-old Kolesnikov is well known on the international arena - he won two medals at the Tokyo Olympics, more than once became the world and European champion. In Kazan, the swimmer was in excellent shape, although, according to his coach Dmitry Lazarev, the luck factor also affected.

Russian masters of swimming are now suspended from international starts, but the world record can be counted during national level competitions if all the necessary conditions are met. According to the President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation Vladimir Salnikov, there should be no problems with the registration of the achievement.
