Russian skiers may be admitted to international competitions under a neutral flag

The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) is considering allowing athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in international competitions, provided that they compete under a neutral flag. This was announced by FIS Secretary General Michel Vion.

“The idea of admitting Russians and Belarusians (to competitions.— "b") starts to appear. This is not about holding competitions in Russia, but about the participation of athletes in FIS events and world cups. FIS will not make this decision without the clear advice of the IOC,” Mr. Wion said during a speech at the forum nordicum. He added that the return of athletes to the competitive process under a neutral flag could be agreed by December.

September 16, the head of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach informedthat Russian athletes will be able to compete in Olympic competitions without national symbols. In July, he said that the time for such decisions was still did not come.
