Russian scientists have synthesized substances that can help treat diabetes

RIA Novosti reports that Russian scientists have managed to obtain compounds that can become the basis for new drugs for diabetes.
It is reported that employees of the Tyumen State University (Tyumen State University) offered biologists from the National Center for Biotechnology (Kazakhstan) new derivatives of the so-called monothiooxamides and thiadiazoles for biological research. Compared to known antidiabetic drugs, the new compounds showed a higher degree of binding to proteins involved in the digestion of carbohydrates in the body. Suppression of the activity of these proteins can slow down the absorption of glucose and reduce its level in the blood after a meal.
Tyumen State University noted that 12 new compounds showed “high prospects for further in-depth studies with a view to their possible use as potential antidiabetic drugs.”
In the near future, more in-depth biological testing of the obtained compounds on experimental animals will be carried out to determine their antidiabetic activity and the degree of toxicity, after which it will be decided whether it is worth conducting further preclinical trials.
