Russian round-the-world expedition had to be rescued in Chile

The Russian round-the-world expedition "On the Way of the Great Russian Navigators" had to be rescued in Chile, the expedition's Telegram channel reports.

The expedition follows on a unique sailing trimaran. Reportedly, on the night of March 16, the crew reported a breakdown of the vessel, after which a rescue operation began. Russian travelers were rescued by the Chilean Navy, as well as a Brazilian ship moving towards Chile. The Brazilians took the Russians on board and took the trimaran in tow. The expedition is currently deciding what to do next.

The round-the-world expedition “On the path of the great Russian navigators” started in early July 2021 from Kronstadt. It was planned that the members of the expedition, Evgeny Kovalevsky and Stanislav Berezkin, would circle the globe in two years, but the breakdowns made their own adjustments.
