Pollock miners in Russia asked for new subsidies for transportation

The fishermen asked the government to resume the allocation of subsidies for rail transportation of pollock from the Far East to the center of Russia, which were suspended due to the exhaustion of limits. This is reported “Kommersant”.

It is noted that the corresponding measure helps smooth out fluctuations in tariffs, as well as maintain fish prices by stimulating supplies to the domestic market.

The Pollack Harvesters Association (ADM) wrote a letter to Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenok. It is specified that ADM asks to increase funding for the program to subsidize railway tariffs for pollock transportation. In turn, the Deputy Prime Minister’s office reported that the application had been received and would be considered.

The fish subsidy program was launched back in 2021 at a time of difficulties in exporting pollock and fillets to China due to the coronavirus pandemic.
