The ministry clarified that American B-1B bombers were heading towards the state border of Russia. “In order to prevent violation of the state border of the Russian Federation, Su-35s and Su-27p fighters from the air defense forces of the Western Military District were raised into the air,” the Defense Ministry said.
After the foreign planes left, the fighters returned to their base airfield. The Ministry of Defense added that the Russian border was not violated, and the flight of Russian fighters complied with all international rules.
