Russian data centers failed to cope with the active purchase of servers

Commercial data processing centers (DPCs) faced a shortage of rack spaces for servers in Russia in the first half of the year. A representative of iKS-Consulting told Vedomosti about this. Now data center operators have difficulties when it is necessary to place tens or hundreds of racks within Moscow or, conversely, far beyond the Urals, Dmitry Isaev, director of cloud solutions at Softline Group, confirms.

At the beginning of the second quarter of 2022, server imports grew, although at the end of the period it did not come close to pre-crisis indicators, Vedomosti wrote in August. In February, the cost of imported servers amounted to $190-200 million, in March it fell by half, said a source close to one of the companies. In April, deliveries exceeded $300 million, he added, by June they were reduced by four times, in July they returned to March’s $75-90 million.
