Russia suspends tax agreement with Latvia

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decree, according to which the double taxation avoidance agreement with Latvia is suspended. The document comes into force from the date of signing.

The decision to suspend the agreement was made due to Latvia’s violation of its obligations, the decree says. In this connection, the agreement of December 20, 2010 was suspended until the elimination of violations by Latvia or until the termination of the document.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation will send a notification to the Latvian side about the suspension of the agreement,” the decree says. The government was instructed to submit to the State Duma a draft law on suspension of the agreement.

Summer in Latvia it was decided develop a bill allowing the confiscation of Russian property in favor of the state. In particular, it is supposed to be used to help Ukrainian refugees.
